The history of the Danvers Fish and Game Club
In 1944 a blind ad was run in the Salem Evening News that read “A new Fish & Game Club starting with trout pool in mind”. In 1946 our club had 170 members. The Danvers Fish and Game Club, Inc. was incorporated in 1954. Today Danvers Fish & Game Club has over 2,000 members and has a trout pond, 2 skeet fields, 2 trap fields, an outdoor range, a pin range, an indoor range, an indoor archery range, an outdoor archery range and 3D course and a primitive firearms area.
The Junior Division of the DF&GC was established to provide instruction on shooting .22 rimfire (smallbore) target rifles for the youth of the area. Membership is not dependent upon a parent being a member of the Club as the Jr. Division is totally open to all boys and girls between ages 12 and 20. One of the first Instructors to run the Jr. Division was Mr Al Spencer for whom the end-of-year match is named. He was followed by Mr Daniel Killoran. Between the two men they instructed and guided the juniors for almost 60 years.
Mr Killoran was a firm believer that shooting experience gained in formal competition was invaluable to the junior's ability to advance in the sport. Our current leaders continue the tradition of leadership to our Juniors.

We know you have been anxious to receive information about the clubs plans for the No Blue Sky Range for the Outdoor Pistol Range. Club Members: Gill McKenna and Greg Nowak, and John Dunn have designed plans for the project. Here is the presentation they have put together for the membership.
